Gold Coast, October 2026 — Malaysian developer MRCB International has appointed Versatile Construction as main contractor for 26 Vista, its $600 million, 51-storey residential tower at Surfers Paradise, marking the project’s transition from early works into main construction.

The appointment sees the civil contractor that began site works in November last year novated to Versatile, ensuring continuity as the project moves into the main build phase. The tower is anticipated to reach completion in mid-2030.

26 Vista will rise on Vista Street in the Northcliffe precinct, with the project forming the first of two MRCB International developments under construction on the Gold Coast. Together with the Maris apartment development in Southport, the two projects represent a combined end value exceeding $800 million.

26 Vista Contractor Appointment Amid Market Pressures

The appointment comes as the construction sector faces rising material and labour costs alongside tightening subcontractor capacity. Securing a contract with a well-capitalised builder has become increasingly challenging across the residential construction market.

Kevin Zhang, Sales and Marketing Director at MRCB International, said the developer’s commitment to the Gold Coast remains driven by regional fundamentals.

“We’re delighted to be partnering with Versatile to deliver 26 Vista. Our commitment to the Gold Coast reflects our belief in its long term fundamentals: strong population growth, enduring lifestyle demand and a genuine shortage of new, quality homes.”

Ben Richardson, Versatile’s Head of Construction, Queensland, said the partnership aligns with both organisations’ delivery models.

“Versatile Construction and MRCB are a natural strategic fit with a shared commitment to delivering excellence. Our approach to construction, controlling delivery across the entire supply chain, gives MRCB clear visibility of cost, programme and quality. That assurance strengthens buyer confidence that 26 Vista will be delivered as promised.”

Versatile Group Adds 26 Vista to Queensland Pipeline

Established in 1974, Sydney-headquartered Versatile Group currently holds work in hand valued at more than $4 billion. The builder operates through its construction arm Versatile Construction, which has been appointed to deliver the Surfers Paradise tower.

The construction phase is expected to support hundreds of jobs and generate flow-on work for local trades and suppliers over the build programme.

MRCB’s $800 Million Gold Coast Development Programme

26 Vista will deliver one, two and three-bedroom apartments across 51 levels, topped by a sub-penthouse and penthouse collection. The project includes two full floors of amenities and a rooftop with coastal and hinterland views.

The tower was designed by DBI Design, a Gold Coast-based firm with a portfolio of high-rise projects across the region.

More than 70 per cent of the residences have been sold, with buyers predominantly downsizers seeking apartment living in the region. A limited collection of residences remains, priced from $1,865,000.

MRCB International’s second Gold Coast project, Maris, is valued at over $200 million and will deliver 192 apartments across 20 levels in Southport. The development is under construction by Binah.
